Blepharoplasty
(Eyelid Lift Surgery)
Expertly Performed by Denver’s Leading Oculoplastic Surgeons
This procedure is a precise, anatomy-focused approach to restoring a rested, natural appearance around the eyes and eyelids.
Introducing the Blepharoplasty Procedure
Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgical procedure for the eyelids, and is commonly referred to by our patients as just “eyelid surgery”. The blepharoplasty surgery is designed to address changes around the eyes that come with age or as a result of genetic factors. These changes often include excess upper eyelid skin, puffiness caused by protruding fat, or a tired, “heavy” appearance which doesn’t seem to improve with consistent rest.
For some of our patients here in Denver, drooping upper lids can also interfere with their peripheral vision. This can turn everyday activities into strenuous situations, making your day to day more difficult than it should be. In those cases, blepharoplasty isn’t just cosmetic, it’s also a functional medical procedure.
The goal of this procedure is not to change the shape of your eyes or make you look different. Our surgeons always are aiming to restore clarity, openness, and balance – so that your eyes are a reflection of how you actually feel.

How Blepharoplasty Benefits Our Patients
When blepharoplasty is performed thoughtfully and conservatively, patients often notice improvements that feel subtle but for them are incredibly meaningful. Our patients at our practice in Denver report a wide array of benefits as a result of the procedure, the most common of which include:
- A brighter, more rested appearance
- Reduced heaviness or drooping of the upper eyelids
- Smoother contours beneath the eyes
- Improved field of vision when excess skin is present
- Results that age naturally over time
Because the eyes are such a focal point of the face, even small refinements can have a noticeable impact. The best outcomes tend to be the ones others can’t quite pinpoint. Our surgical team focuses on subtle enhancements, which result in a naturally “well” appearance.
What to Expect During & After Your Blepharoplasty
Blepharoplasty is typically performed as an outpatient procedure using local anesthesia with light sedation, which allows patients to remain comfortable and relaxed throughout the procedure. Depending on your individual anatomy and the concerns you have with your eyelids, the surgery may involve the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or in certain cases both of them. Because the eyelids are numbed directly, most people feel little more than gentle pressure.
We start by making carefully placed incisions along natural eyelid creases or, in some cases, inside the lower eyelid. This allows excess skin, muscle, or fat to be adjusted while keeping scars as discreet as possible. The emphasis is always on balance and preservation. Removing too much can be just as problematic as removing too little.
After surgery, swelling and bruising are expected, particularly during the first week. In terms of recovery after the procedure, most patients begin to feel comfortable returning to non-strenuous activities within 7 to 10 days. As healing continues, the eyelids soften, swelling fades, and the final result gradually becomes more apparent over several weeks.

I had a great experience nothing to say other than well done Thank YouPosted on Larry SimsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr. Vaishnav is incredible. I went to him with a persistent issue that I'd seen 3 other specialists for, and he was able to resolve it efficiently. He was very thorough and thoughtful, with a great bedside manner. I'll be going back for any other eye issues I have in the future.Posted on barrett langendoerferTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great experience with Dr. Vaishnav. I will certainly be back for any future procedures.Posted on Jessica ClausenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Genuinely one of the best healthcare experiences of my life! Dr. Popham was so kind, considerate and through when he told me that the lump I’ve had on my eye for the last few years that many other doctors had said was nothing serious was likely cancer. And his skill set under the knife is honestly artistry in itself. I showed my uncle who’s been an orthopedic surgeon his whole life and he and his colleagues/ friends were all amazed by how tight, precise and clean this surgery went through. I am still recovering (9 days post surgery) but will try to remember to post more pictures as this continues to heal. But I am so grateful for him, his amazing nurses and his surgery scheduler Andee. The communication, care, and expertise I had made this whole experience a really joyful one instead of being a hellish one. As someone who used to work in health care I swear up and down that these are the best of the best! Park avenue oculoplastic surgeons are truly a top shelf practice!Posted on Kathryn AngusTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Clean. Quick. Very professional. I had surgery to remove a growth on an upper eyelid. My eye doctor said the only place she recommended was Park Ave Oculoplastic Surgeons. I had been putting it off for a decade & I don't know why. Dr. Vaishnav did an amazing job! I am so pleased with my results and his care.Posted on Kate Cullen

Common Blepharoplasty Questions & Answers
How Much Does Blepharoplasty Typically Cost?
These procedures can vary in cost depending on your precise circumstances. However most of the blepharoplasties we perform cost in the range of $3,000 – $5,000. During your consultation we’ll help provide more detailed costs based on your exact procedure and plan.
Is Blepharoplasty Painful?
Most patients describe mild discomfort or tightness rather than significant pain. This is usually well controlled with medication during the early recovery period.
How Long Does Recovery Take?
Initial healing typically takes only one to two weeks, and comfort returns quickly. Subtle swelling can last longer in some cases as everybody is a bit different in this regard. For more detailed information, explore our full length blepharoplasty recovery guide.
Will Blepharoplasty Surgery Leave Visible Scars?
Our surgical team does a fantastic job of hiding scars within natural eyelid creases or inside the eyelid itself. Once healed, they are often almost impossible to notice without a trained eye. Careful scar placement and minimization are specialties of ours.
How Long Do The Results Of An Eyelid Lift Last?
Blepharoplasty results are long-lasting and in a certain sense “semi-permanent”. While the face continues to age, most patients enjoy improvement for many years after their surgery and do not require further procedures or corrections down the road.
Can Eyelid Surgery Be Covered By Insurance?
In cases where excess upper eyelid skin affects vision, insurance coverage may be possible. A proper evaluation and outreach with your Colorado insurance provider is required to determine eligibility, but it is certainly not out of the question.
