Insurance, Billing, & Provider Questions
Do you accept insurance?
We work with many major insurance plans; coverage varies by provider, policy, and procedure. Because blepharoplasty and other aesthetic procedures are often elective, they may not be covered unless there is a documented functional need. Functional eyelid surgery that affects vision may have partial coverage. We recommend checking directly with your insurer early in the process and can assist with eligibility verification.
Will PAOS file insurance claims for me?
Yes, we can submit claims on your behalf. However, if your plan requires a referral or preauthorization, obtaining those prior to your appointment is typically your responsibility.
Do I need a referral?
Some plans require a referral from your primary care provider (PCP) before seeing a specialist. Please confirm your plan’s requirements and, if needed, provide referral information prior to your visit.
Who are the surgeons at PAOS?
Our surgical team includes fellowship-trained oculofacial plastic surgeons with advanced training in eyelid, facial, and reconstructive surgery. Our surgeons, Dr. Popham and Dr. Vaishnav, are committed to evidence-based care, patient safety, and natural-looking results.
Can I request a specific surgeon?
Yes. When requesting a consultation or booking an appointment, you may indicate a preference for a specific provider. We’ll do our best to schedule your visit accordingly.
Appointments & Consultations
How do I request a consultation?
You can always request a consultation online or you can call our office during business hours to speak directly with our staff regarding the procedure page you’re interested in. Our front desk team will help you select a time and provider based on your needs.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
- Photo ID
- Insurance card (if applicable)
- List of medications
- Any required referral or preauthorization information
Can consultations be virtual?
Depending on your needs and the procedure, we offer both in-office and virtual consultation options. Our team can help you determine which is right for you.
Do you see patients from out of state?
Absolutely. We welcome patients from outside Colorado. Many patients travel for specialized care. Our team can help you understand travel logistics, scheduling, and postoperative follow-up planning.
Procedure Expectations & Surgeons
What is the difference between in-office and surgical procedures?
In-office procedures are usually minimally invasive treatments performed under local anesthesia with quick recovery (e.g., injectables, minor eyelid procedures). Surgical procedures, such as blepharoplasty or face/neck lifts, are performed in an accredited surgical facility with sedation or anesthesia, with a more formal recovery period.
Will my surgery be performed in an accredited facility?
Yes. All surgical procedures at PAOS are performed in accredited operating facilities with trained anesthesia providers and full monitoring to ensure safety and comfort throughout your operation.
Can I combine procedures?
Many patients combine surgeries (e.g., upper and lower eyelid surgery) or combine surgical and non-surgical treatments for a more comprehensive rejuvenation plan. Your surgeon will discuss appropriate options based on your goals.
What certifications do your surgeons have?
Our surgeons are board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and are members of the American Society for Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS), an elite group of less than 750 specialty trained surgeons in the world. ASOPRS members are extensively trained and uniquely qualified to enhance facial beauty and function, all while protecting your ocular health and vision.
