Botox is not used to “freeze” the face or to eliminate facial expression, but is used to soften appearances and to eliminate what Dr. Popham calls “facial communication errors”. In other words, as one example, deep vertical “frown lines” between the eyebrows at least subconsciously transmit a feeling of sternness or of anger or deep seriousness. If a person chronically feels stern, angry, or deeply serious, then the lines are communicating accurately. BUT, if a person is communicating these feelings when he or she does NOT necessarily feel stern, or angry, or serious inside, he or she is experiencing a “facial communication error”. Botox treatments correct these errors of facial expression and allow a person to look more on the outside what he or she feels on the inside.
Dr. Popham is one of the most experienced Botox injectors in the country. It is important to choose an injector who is experienced with BOTOX® and very knowledgeable about the eyes and their surrounding anatomy. Dr. Popham began injecting Botox for patients with muscle dystonias such as blepharospasm and hemifacial spasm while he was a clinical fellow in oculoplastic surgery at Harvard Medical School in 1990. He then became one of the first physicians in the US to use Botox for cosmetic purposes. He has subsequently served on the National Educational Faculty for Allergan, the maker of Botox, and has lectured and taught techniques to many physicians both in the US and abroad. Dr. Popham has also been voted by his peers in 5280 Magazine as Denver’s best cosmetic Botox injector.
On Skin Care
BOTOX® is a popular non-surgical injection that temporarily reduces or eliminates frown lines, forehead creases, crows feet near the eyes and thick bands in the neck. The toxin blocks the nerve impulses, temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles while giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance. Priced by area. Done with a gentle touch!
